Ask : Homo Naledi findings by Professor Lee Berger

Acquire : Interview: Lee Berger on Homo Naledi and Fame

Analyse : The article is about the Home Naledi remains that were found in the Dinaledi Cave. The deeper meanings of Homo Naledi have become subject of debate. Lee Berger, paleoanthropologist, now travels internationally a lot after the release of the fossils. The article speaks further of the popularity of the topic and even how the papers on the discovery has led to religion versus science.
This was an extraordinary finding of hominin. The remains were not dragged into the caves, neither did they end up there by water. They must have been carefully placed there but there were no other signs of the outside world found. They have found that the remains weren’t all placed at the same time, but rather that one group of material was there and then a second came later and lay around those earlier ones. Therefore they do not think this was because of natural causes but rather a deliberate burial ground. Berger does not specify the age of these fossils, he says that is not what’s important but rather their relationships to other species.
Further it just explains the findings and theories and how the connection is there to humans and animals and different types of burials in cultures.

Apply : I can now have a conversation about this topic with someone, I can explain what Homo Naledi is and where they come from and that they were discovered by a South African and talk about his theories.

Assess : I think I searched correctly about the topic, I found a very good and useful article and had a lot to summarise and read through. I could have looked for other sites to get some more info or more specifically summarised information. It is an interesting topic but not really anything I deal with everyday.
