3.Napalm-Girl
The iconic image of Kim Phuc, as a young naked girl seen crying and screaming after napalm had been dropped on her village during an airstrike, which engulfed the her and her village in fire, burning off her clothes and half her skin. This photograph has caused much controversy and debate over the last 40 years ago, with the latest it being banned from Facebook.
This material could be seen as inappropriate by some people because of the fact that she is nude on media. But shouldn't it rather be seen as appropriate because of the value it adds historically and exaggerates the context.
The photographer evoked sympathy for the villagers and captures the horror of war in the photograph. His choice to capture the picture in black and white creates the feeling of deep emotion, which allows the audience to connect with the story. Though in a different setting where war was not the culprit, the image would have qualified as being inappropriate and violating the right of the young girl.
