How can social media change communities and their
practices and traditions?
Commodification: Some traditions, rituals, rights, etc, are reduced and slightly changed to show to the rest of the world.
Staged effect: Unfortunately value and purpose is lost from the traditional practices of cultures as they modify too much
Acculturation: When two cultures combine they go through cultural and psychological change which is known as Acculturation. But this is not always an equal exchange, many times one culture is being exposed to another culture without the other being exposed in return.
Behaviour: Our behaviour changes for better and for worse to accommodate the fast change of technology and amount of information we get access to. We are now beings that multi-task our everyday tasks.
Privacy : As the number of people engaging social networks has increased rapidly and that means many supplies their personal information as it a standard procedure and that people feel comfortable using these applications and site. People, businesses and the government can access the information displayed online and that makes everyone a potential victim of a violation of privacy.
Crime: The Internet
has made it far easier for criminals to find potential victims.
